On the shores of majestic Geographe Bay, 254km south of Perth and about 26km east around the bay’s shoreline from Busselton, the small, but beautiful town of Dunsborough is renowned for its wonderful beaches and as a staging post for forays to Cape Naturaliste and the extraordinarily-rugged and wildly-beautiful coastal Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park.
The park, which hugs the rugged coastline - with a few breaks in between - for more than 120km, from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin, near Augusta, is renowned for its scenery, profusion of wildflowers, and its stately forests of jarrah and karri.
At Cape Naturaliste, there’s a lighthouse, a whale-viewing platform, and unsurpassed views of the enormous Geographe Bay.
In town, take a look at Greenacres Shell Museum, which houses an extensive collection of sea shells from throughout the world and Hutchings Museum and Antique Shop, the largest private museum outside the Perth metropolitan area.
