Down in Snowy Mountains country between Cooma and Jindabyne, near Lake Eucumbene, the landscape around Berridale is characterised by massive boulders weathered by the cycle of freezing and heating.
Strategically located halfway between Cooma and the Perisher and Thredbo snowfields, Berridale is at the centre of skiing, riding and fishing country where anglers can accept the challenge of a number of mountain streams or take time out to visit the Eucumbene Trout Farm.
There’s a llama farm to visit, the Ag Farm and Fibre Centre markets a wide range of winter woollies while the avenue of poplars guarding the Jindabyne approach to town is at its golden best in autumn.
You must also reserve a balcony table for the truly unique experience of lunching at Australia's highest vineyard, the Snowy Mountain Winery.
And, of course, some of the country's most popular and testing snowfields are just up the road.
