Biggera Waters is located on the edge of the Gold Coast's beautiful Broadwater and is a booming Queensland holiday location. The Biggera Creek runs through the township that was once a farming and fishing village.
Off the coast lies Wave Break Island that marks the entrance to the Gold Coast seaway.
The name Bigera
comes from the local Yugambeh language meaning red iron bark tree (Eucalyptus sideroploia).
Construction of a bridge in 1960 made Biggera Waters more accessible and encouraged the growth of holiday and residential development
There's an excellent promenade along the waterfront that tracks the Broadwater continuing on to Southport with attractive parkland, for cycling and walking.
