At the head of a narrow, protected bay, Clovelly Beach is one of the most popular and safest swimming beaches on Sydney’s southside.
Along with Tamarama Bay and, to a lesser extent, Bronte, Clovelly offers ocean-lovers a tranquil option to Sydney’s famous Eastern Suburbs surfing beaches of Bondi and Coogee.
This is a magic corner of Sydney with cliffside walking tracks which skirt the protective bluffs and surrounding parkland. There are ocean views that stretch east over the Pacific to the horizon and south over Wedding Cake Island to Coogee Beach.
Historic and fascinating Waverley Cemetery hugs the coastline between Clovelly and Bronte. Randwick Racecourse, Queens Park, Centennial Park, the Sydney Cricket Ground and its neighbouring Sydney Football Stadium lie just a brisk gallop to the west, and a train and bus service cuts the travelling time to the centre of Sydney to a few minutes.
