A couple of kilometres off the Bruce Highway and an hour and a half’s drive from Brisbane, Cooroy is a central location from which to explore the Sunshine Coast and its hinterland.
The town is just a 15-minute drive from the surf and sand of Noosa, while the local rainforest is studded with botanical gardens, a lake and a natural amphitheatre.
You can spend a rewarding day exploring such distinctive and interesting Sunshine Coast hinterland and Blackall Ranges towns as Maleny, Montville, Mapleton, Kenilworth, Eumundi, Cooran, Pomona and Kin Kin.
Most of the ridge-top towns offer superb views over lush valleys to the ocean and all of them are patrons to the arts and craft industries which flourish in the hinterland.
For flower-lovers, the Daylily Nursery on Policeman's Spur Road at Maleny is a must. The nursery is open from October to January.
