Out beyond Parramatta in Sydney’s teeming western suburbs, about 25km from the CBD, Guildford today is a densely-populated, multicultural place which has a bit of light industry and commercial activity thrown into the urban mix.
To give you an idea of the eclecticism of the place, consider the diversity of interests of these organisations which have their roots in Guildford: Buddhist Blissful Voice Mission of Australia; Ukrainian Council of NSW; Australian Cashmere Marketing Corporation; Hernia Council of Australia.
By the way, there’s also a decent little public golf course here called Woodville.
Guildford is a light industrial and dormitory suburb in the municipality of Holroyd, which, although the smallest council in the western region of Sydney, is among the strongest in terms of economic activity and residential development.
It is also an area of strong multicultural diversity which has produced an exciting tapestry of talents, skills and integrated, social cohesion.
