Gateway to Gippsland, Longwarry is the westernmost town in the Baw Baw Shire. The small town is the commercial centre for the region’s farmers and timber mill operators, but in recent times has become an increasingly popular dormitory suburb for Melbourne commuters.
Longwarry is one of the kick-off points for the Gourmet Deli Trail through the shire. The trail allows food and wine fanciers to browse on some of the region’s most succulent food and wines while meandering through such colourful and diverse towns as Neerim South, Noojee, Drouin and Warragul.
Longwarry is also gaining a reputation for its craft and antique shops such as The Time Traveller which attracts antique and collectible browsers and buyers.
In addition, the town is a convenient launching pad for the Gippsland tourist trail and just a short, scenic drive from Bunyip State Park. Spread over 16,600ha characterised by diverse flora, fauna and landforms, the park presents a variety of nature walks and bush trails to cater for all levels of fitness.
