Porongurup itself is a small village which provides food and advice for those wanting to visit Porongurup National Park. The Porongurup Range is about 15 minutes away from the town of Mount Barker
and the national park, covering some 2400ha, contains some of the oldest rocks in the world.
The park features strange rock formations created over the eons by the actions of wind and rain - there's the Balancing Rock, Devil's Slide and Marmabup Rock. In the main car park you'll see the Tree in the Rock, a living tree which has literally grown around an enormous rock.
There are several walking trails in the park, and the energetic are rewarded with great views form the top of high peaks.
