Flanked by the River Torrens, the inner suburb of Underdale lies halfway between the Adelaide GPO and one of the city's most popular metropolitan beaches, Henley.
It is an ideal location to share some of the best Adelaide has to offer. To the west, there is safe swimming at Henley and its neighbouring beaches which are also acclaimed for the quality and diversity of food served at their patio restaurants. To the east you'll find a gracious city circled by the river and huge expanses of passive and recreational parkland.
On the other side of Adelaide Airport, which lies between Underdale and West Beach, you will find one of the state’s theme showplaces, the Woolshed. The Woolshed brings a slice of the bush to the Festival City with sheep shearing demonstrations, the rams ‘live on stage’ show and its ‘touch’ farm animal nursery.
Underdale's neighbouring West Torrens municipality suburb of Thebarton is home to old Adelaide Gaol, which was commissioned in the mid-19th century and remained a prison until 1988. The long-disused Hoffman Kiln is now used as a Thebarton market and leisure centre.
