Waverton, on Sydney’s lower North Shore, just over the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the city, is stunningly located, running as it does down onto a point which separates Berry’s Bay and Ball’s Head Bay in the harbour.
Needless to say, many of the fine - and some very elegant and historic - homes here have superb harbour views. At the end of the point at the bottom of Ball’s Head Road there’s a beautiful little reserve - all lush grass and trees - which is just the perfect spot for a Sydney summer picnic, with the breeze wafting off the harbour and sails flashing on the water.
And just down the road is the business district of North Sydney - a cosmopolitan, sophisticated, atmospheric place popular with trendy businesses embracing advertising, modelling, film production, public relations, graphic art and the like. It's full of great bars, big and small, and a cornucopia of restaurants, cafes, gourmet food shops and fashion boutiques.
From Waverton, of course, it's only minutes by car, bus or train across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and into the centre of Sydney's CBD.
