•   National Capital Exhibition
The National Capital Exhibition on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin at Regatta Point provides a fascinating account of the design and development of Canberra. It is also an excellent place to see the Captain Cook Memorial Jet in the lake.

•   Australian Institute of Sport
At the Australian Institute of Sport in Bruce, athletes lead tours of the facilities. Put your fitness to the test against our Olympians at the unique Sportex exhibition. See many of the training venues and if you're feeling energetic, join in a fitness class or swim in the AIS pool.

•   Calthorpes House
At Red Hill is Calthorpes House, built in the Spanish Mission style in 1927. Left almost untouched since this time, it contains original furnishings and is an important record of Canberra life in the 1920s.

•   Lanyon Homestead
Lanyon Homestead sits on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River outside Canberra. This fine building has been restored and furnished with period fittings. The Sidney Nolan gallery is also housed in the homestead.

•   National Gallery of Australia
The National Gallery of Australia has the finest collection of Australian art including Aboriginal art and works by all major Australian artists. There is also an impressive collection of overseas works.

•   Questacon
The excellent National Science and Technology Centre, Questacon, has hands-on displays and experiments housed in five themed spaces. There's something for everyone, with kids and adults alike sure to have fun and learn heaps!

•   Telstra Tower Lookout
The Telstra Tower Lookout on Black Mountain offers fantastic views of the city and the surrounding area.

•   Royal Australian Mint
At the Royal Australian Mint in Deakin, you can view the production process, make your own coin and see an exhibition on the history of money making.

•   National Zoo and Aquarium
The National Zoo and Aquarium features a freshwater fish habitat and the Predators of the Deep exhibit featuring several varieties of shark. You can also view Australian animals in a bushland setting as well as seeing big cats, bears and the animals of an African waterhole.

•   Cockington Green
Cockington Green is a model village, complete with a river, houses, people and a model train, which is very popular with children. There is also a ride-on train around the perimeter of the exhibit.
