  •   Sydney - For Kids

•   Take a Ferry
To show your kids the wonder of Sydney Harbour, just take a ferry. Try taking the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly, where you can go to the beach, have coffee at one of the many cafes, stroll along the Esplanade, go to the aquarium at Oceanworld Manly or take a bus to North Head for the best coastal views in Sydney. Then to complete your trip, return to Circular Quay on a JetCat.

•   Sydney Aquarium and Darling Harbour
The Sydney Aquarium at Darling Harbour has underwater viewing tunnels for a close-up view of sharks, stingrays and colourful fish. There is also a seal enclosure where you can view the seals as they swim underneath you. The monorail stops right outside, and is an excellent (and fun) way to get there. Other activities in the Darling Harbour precinct include the Chinese Gardens, the IMAX theatre and the National Maritime Museum.

•   Koala Park Sanctuary
Just 30 minutes from the Sydney CBD, with 10 acres of lush rainforest, eucalypt groves and native gardens. Koalas, red & grey kangaroos, dingoes, wombats, echidnas, emus, wallabies species and a large collection of Australian native birds. Private guides and BBQs available.

•   Powerhouse Museum
The Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo is a hands-on, family-friendly museum of technology and culture. Displays are cleverly integrated with recorded music and voices, to provide a thought-provoking experience. The specially designed KidSpace areas will intrigue younger children.

•   The Australian Museum
Australias oldest museum houses anthropology and natural history collections. There are often special exhibits and activities for youngsters. The smaller visitor is not forgotten with Kids Island, a fantasy play area for the 0-5s.

•   The Australian National Maritime Museum
This museum is a must for all small pirates, sailors and submariners. The exhibits are educational and exciting, there is a real lighthouse and the chance to scramble over boats and HMAS Onslow - a submarine - should not be missed.

•   Fairfield City Farm
For city kids, a trip to this 500 acre farm in the western suburbs is a chance to see all kinds of farm animals, plus native and exotic species. There are also shearing, milking, and stockwhip demonstrations, giant horses, an animal nursery and tractor rides. Picnic and BBQ facilities available.

•   Clontarf Beach
Clontarf Beach is ideal for children. It's great fun to swim in the netted-off pool area - but do be aware of the sudden dip in sea-floor level when swimming off the beach. But best of all there is a grassy park behind the beach with a great playground which will keep the little ones happy for hours.

•   Taronga Zoo
The animals at Taronga Zoo have the best views in the world. There is an extensive collection of Australian animals and the amazing Asian rainforest exhibit, with over 200 Asian animals. To get there, go by ferry from Circular Quay or by bus from the city. To appreciate some of those wonderful views, take a ride on the Sky Safari cable car.

•   Oceanworld Manly
Oceanworld Manly is right on the water at Manly Cove beach, just 200m from Manly Wharf. Enjoy a ferry or jetcat ride from Circular Quay, then Oceanworld is just a 2 minute stroll. See sharks, stingrays, turtles and shoals of fish in the giant oceanarium. Get up close to snakes, baby crocs and a variety of lizards at the reptile show, and see the world’s most venomous snakes and spiders – all Australians.
