Woodworks The Forestry and Timber Museum in Gympie is dedicated to the timber industry that first brought settlers to the area. There are displays of timber harvesting implements, bullock wagons and other colonial items. You can also watch skilled timber cutters using adzes, crosscut saws, broad axes and shingle froes. The steam-driven sawmill operates several times a year, usually on a Saturday during school holidays and special events.

Gympie’s Gold Mining Museum features buildings, machinery and other artifacts from the start of the Queensland Gold Rush to the present day. Only trouble is, if you go on a rainy day, you’ll miss out on the opportunity to picnic beside the attractive lake!
