Landsborough Shire Historical Museum is housed in the original Landsborough Shire Council Chambers, designed in 1924 by renowned architect Walter Carey Voller and built from local timbers. There are exhibits relating to indigenous and non-indigenous people of the area.

Noosa Regional Gallery is an important part of its local community, with programs and events that support local artists and regional art. Admission is free except for some major exhibitions and events.

•   Pioneer Cottage
Pioneer Cottage, Buderim is one of the area’s original houses, now operating as a museum. It was built from pit-sawn cedar and beech around 1880 and the rooms have been furnished in period style. There are also displays of local historic interest.

•   Dive the Brisbane
A former missile destroyer, HMAS Brisbane was scuttled 2.8 nautical miles east of Mudjimba Island in 2005 to form the basis of a living reef off the Sunshine Coast. Divers can explore the wreck and the marine community establishing itself there.

The Sunshine Coast may not be renowned as a winegrowing region, but there is a burgeoning wine industry here. Take a trip around the cellar doors for tastings and sales.

•   Mary Valley Rattler
The Mary Valley Rattler is a steam train that travels from historic Gympie Railway Station every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday. It is one of Queensland’s most scenic railway lines, crossing the Mary River and passing through charming small country villages.

Relax with some fishing and drop a line into the clear waters of the Sunshine Coast. Whether you’d like to go freshwater, saltwater or estuarine fishing, there are plenty of great spots along the coast.
