Freycinet National Park
Freycinet National Park makes an ideal escape from Hobart. The national park
features a magnificent rocky coastline, unspoiled white sandy beaches and clear blue water. At the entrance to the park
are "The Hazards", dramatic granite peaks which rise sharply from the coast. There are a variety of activities which
you can do in the park including scenic drives, swimming, wildlife spotting and bushwalking. Bushwalks include the
scenic trail to Wineglass Bay, surely one of Australia’s most beautiful spots. For the more energetic, rock climbing,
canoeing, water skiing and diving are also available in the area. However, you may just want to relax, drink in the
superb scenery and breathe in the fresh air.

Launceston
For a great weekend getaway from Hobart, head north and go to Launceston.
Visit the Old Umbrella Shop, an 1860's shop preserved by the National Trust. Take a walk through Cataract Gorge,
one of Launceston's best loved natural attractions. There are three National Trust historic houses nearby -
Franklin House, south of the city, Entally House at Hadspen and Clarendon, near Evandale, a historic village also
worth stopping at. Or if you are in need of a little pampering, visit Aquarius Roman Baths, where you can enjoy
the two thousand year old bathing traditions of the Romans.

Huon Valley
For a relaxing weekend away from it all, head down to the Huon Valley, the centre
of Tasmania's apple growing industry. In the spring, the area is bright with apple blossom, while in autumn there are
plenty of opportunities to buy many varieties of freshly picked fruit from roadside stalls. If you are feeling adventurous,
take a thrilling jet boat ride on the Huon River. Visit the Apple and Heritage Museum near Grove or the Forest and
Heritage Centre at Geeveston. The forest drive through Tahune Forest Reserve from Geeveston is a magnificent side trip.
Finally, head down to Hastings where you can tour the dolomite caves and relax in the thermal pools. Check out
