Freycinet National Park makes an ideal escape from Hobart. The national park features a magnificent rocky coastline, unspoiled white sandy beaches and clear blue water. At the entrance to the park are "The Hazards", dramatic granite peaks which rise sharply from the coast. There are a variety of activities which you can do in the park including scenic drives, swimming, wildlife spotting and bushwalking. For a relaxing weekend away from it all, head down to the Huon Valley, the centre of Tasmania's apple growing industry. In the spring, the area is bright with apple blossom, while in autumn there are plenty of opportunities to buy many varieties of freshly picked fruit from roadside stalls. If you are feeling adventurous, take a thrilling jet boat ride on the Huon River. Visit the Apple and Heritage Museum near Grove or the Forest and Heritage Centre at Geeveston.
